From Ideas to Impact: Young Changemakers Explore the Power of STEM and Digital Skills

What happens when young changemakers with big ideas meet a community of people turning digital skills into real-world solutions? New possibilities begin to take shape.


On 14 August 2026, IT Academy STEP Cambodia and Sisters of Code welcomed 12 participants from Impact Hub’s Changemakers Program, including young people and provincial officers from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, for a field visit focused on STEM and Digital Skills.


The visit was more than an introduction to technology programs. It was an opportunity for young people to discover different pathways into STEM, exchange ideas, and see what becomes possible when digital skills, creativity, and a supportive community come together.


Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in STEM

The session introduced participants to IT Academy STEP’s study programs and student projects, presented by Ms. Kov Serey Lyta, Sales and Admission Team Leader of IT Academy STEP Institute Cambodia, giving them a closer look at how technology education can build practical skills and prepare them for future opportunities.


Through real examples of student work, participants saw how technical knowledge can be transformed into creative projects and real-world solutions. The session encouraged young women to explore STEM, build confidence in their abilities, and see technology as a pathway to their future studies and careers.


The second session was led by Ms. Chin Dalin, Project Leader of Sisters of Code, who shared the organization’s work, study programs, and vision for empowering more girls and women to explore STEM and technology.


In her sharing, Ms. Chin Dalin encouraged participants—particularly young women—to see technology not only as a career opportunity, but also as a space where they can bring their creativity, ideas, and perspectives to Cambodia’s growing digital economy.


She emphasized that greater participation of women in STEM can contribute to a more diverse and creative digital sector. She also encouraged the young changemakers to actively engage with other students, communities, and professional networks, as these connections can open doors to new opportunities, knowledge, collaboration, and possibilities.


When Learning Becomes a Solution

A special highlight of the session was the presentation of “NearySpace,” a women’s health-tracking app and the most outstanding project, developed by students from the Digital Entrepreneurship and Marketing course under the Employment Skills Program 2026.



Their project demonstrated how digital education can go beyond learning technical skills. With the right knowledge and encouragement, young women can identify challenges around them and transform their ideas into practical solutions for their communities.

The overall session sparked an active discussion, with participants asking questions and seeking advice on how to strengthen and implement their own STEM and digital projects.


For Sisters of Code, this exchange reflects what we hope to create through our programs: a space where young women can learn, create, connect, and believe that their ideas have the potential to make a difference.


Building Connections Beyond the Classroom

The field visit also highlighted the importance of connecting young people with organizations, communities, and role models working in the fields they aspire to enter.

Sisters of Code is proud to be part of a growing community of women in technology and remains committed to connecting young women with mentors, peers, learning opportunities, and professional networks whenever possible.



We are grateful to Impact Hub, Plan International, and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs for creating this opportunity for young changemakers to explore STEM and digital skills and to exchange ideas with our community.


We believe that access to technology education is only the beginning. When young people are given the skills, confidence, connections, and encouragement to pursue their ideas, they can become not only users of technology, but also the creators and changemakers shaping Cambodia’s digital future.
