After 18 weeks of hands-on learning, exploration, and shared excitement, the Sisters of Code students in Battambang have successfully completed their course. On November 21, 2025, Sisters of Code was delighted to partner with Net Yang High School to celebrate the graduation of 9 students from the Sisters of Code Clubs 2025 in Battambang.

Sisters of Code Clubs is an 18-week learning program designed for girls aged 10 and above, giving them the chance to discover coding, develop essential digital skills, and strengthen soft skills like communication and teamwork. The Sisters of Code Club in Battambang is made possible through the collaboration with Net Yang High School and the generous support of the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED).

The event began with opening remarks from Mr. Khoeurm OEURM, Principal of Net Yang High School. He congratulated the 9 students who had successfully completed the 18-week course, despite their full-time school schedules from Monday to Friday. He encouraged them to keep building their digital skills and to stay curious about technology.
Mr. Khoeurm also spoke about the challenges female students face in tech education in Cambodia and shared his commitment to supporting them. He highlighted his collaboration with Sisters of Code to bring coding clubs to female students at no cost.

After the principal’s inspiring words, Ms. Mab MY, Sisters of Code Project Manager, shared a short presentation on the students’ achievements. She noted that all students found the lessons both useful for their studies and fun to learn. Even more exciting, 100% of students agreed that being part of the Sisters of Code club had sparked a stronger interest in technology. It was wonderful to see how much the program has encouraged these young learners to explore and enjoy tech education.
The graduation event also gave the students a wonderful opportunity to share a reflection presentation about their learning journey in front of their trainer and families.
Nataka SAMART, a Grade 12 student in the Sisters of Code Clubs in Battambang, shared her experience with the group. She began by saying, “Learning code is a new challenge for me, and it is hard, but I try to overcome it.”
Through the program, Nataka gained valuable skills. She learned how to build websites and create games using the coding skills she acquired. She also developed her problem-solving abilities, learning to identify and fix mistakes with guidance and support from her teachers. In addition, she strengthened her teamwork skills by connecting with her Sisters of Code classmates and working together to help and support one another. She went on to explain that what helped her overcome all the challenges were the strong support from her teachers and the meaningful lessons that showed her the value of what she was learning.
The program also had a big impact on another student, Kimly MATHA. She discovered her love for coding and creativity and became more confident in sharing her ideas and speaking up. She learned to solve problems step by step and had the opportunity to create projects using Code.org, Scratch, AI, and WIX.COM. Above all, Kimly found a supportive and encouraging Sisters of Code community that helped her grow and thrive.
Sisters of Code is proud to witness the students’ progress over such a short 18-week program. A key part of this success was the guidance and support provided by our Sisters of Code Ambassador, who served as the Club Leader throughout the course.

Ms. Somavatey CHIN, Sisters of Code Ambassador 2022, continues to lead coding clubs in Battambang. She shared that she was impressed by each student’s growth, despite the challenges. She encouraged the students to keep exploring tech opportunities to gain knowledge and skills and to empower more girls in tech.
Sisters of Code is deeply appreciative of Somvatey, who, as a long-term Ambassador, continues to make a significant impact in promoting gender equality in technology through her leadership. In recognition of her dedication and contribution, Sisters of Code presented her with a bouquet of flowers.

Four of the nine students were able to attend the graduation event. We were honored to welcome a representative from Net Yang High School, who joined our Club Leader in presenting certificates to each student.
The graduation day wrapped up with shared refreshments, drinks, and cake, creating a memorable celebration for our students. It was a special opportunity for them to reflect on their hard work, achievements, and growth over the past 18 weeks, with an atmosphere filled with laughter, stories, and a sense of accomplishment. Mothers and daughters also took pictures together, capturing the pride, joy, and memories of this meaningful day.
As the day concluded with shared refreshments, laughter, and stories, it became clear that the impact of this program goes beyond lessons and projects—it creates a lasting community where girls can support, inspire, and empower each other. Sisters of Code is proud of every student’s journey and excited to see the incredible ways they will continue to grow, explore, and shine in the world of technology.
