On 28 February 2026, Sisters of Code, in partnership with the UN Youth Advisory Panel Cambodia (UNYAP), successfully organized the AI Literacy Online Training 2026. The training brought together young people from across Cambodia to strengthen their understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its practical applications in education, work, and everyday life.
As AI continues to rapidly transform the way we learn, communicate, and work, it is essential that young people are not only users of AI tools, but informed, responsible, and confident digital citizens. This training was designed to build that foundation
Reaching Youth Across Cambodia
The online training welcomed 83 participants from diverse regions and backgrounds. The majority of participants were young people, with 71% between the ages of 15 and 30. This shows the growing interest among youth in learning about emerging technologies that will shape their future. The post-survey training also demonstrated strong female participation, with 63% women and 37% men. This reflects Sisters of Code’s continued commitment to empowering young women in technology while creating inclusive learning spaces for everyone.

In terms of location, 44% of participants joined from Phnom Penh, while 56% connected from other provinces such as Kampong Thom, Kampong Chhnang, Preah Vihear, Takeo, Svay Rieng, Siem Reap, Oddar Meanchey, Kratie, Kandal, Battambang, and Banteay Meanchey . The online format made it possible for youth outside the capital to access quality digital education without the need to travel.
From AI Users to Responsible Digital Citizens
Before joining the training, all participants had already used AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot. More than half had also explored creative platforms like Canva and Midjourney. However, many participants expressed a desire to better understand how AI works and how to use it responsibly and effectively. The training went beyond basic tool usage. It explained AI concepts in simple and practical ways, while emphasizing responsible AI use, ethical considerations, and critical thinking when reviewing AI-generated content. By the end of the session, participants had a clearer understanding of how AI can serve as a powerful support tool when used thoughtfully and responsibly.
The Training Outcomes
Based on the post-training survey, the feedback from participants highlights the strong impact of the training.
100% of respondents agreed that the training was important to them.
100% expressed satisfaction with the session.
93% were satisfied or very satisfied with the trainer’s delivery.
81% agreed that the training met their expectations.
96% stated that the AI topics were highly useful for their daily lives, studies, and work.
These results demonstrate that the training was both meaningful and relevant. Participants appreciated the trainer’s clear explanations, practical examples, and interactive approach, which helped them better understand AI concepts and applications. Beyond satisfaction, the training also inspired action. Many participants shared that they plan to use AI tools for brainstorming ideas and academic support. Others express interest in teaching peers about safe and responsible AI use, creating a positive ripple effect within their communities.
Lessons Learned and Opportunities for Growth

While the overall experience was highly positive, some challenges were identified. Around 37% of participants experienced unstable internet connections, and another 37% mentioned they would appreciate more time for hands-on practice. Participants also suggested including more practical exercises and group discussions in future sessions to strengthen their confidence in applying AI tools. Many expressed interest in additional workshops focused on specific applications such as video creation, animation, report writing, infographic design, and presentation development.
Preparing Youth for a Digital and AI-Driven Future
The AI Literacy Online Training 2026 reflects Sisters of Code’s continued commitment to equipping young people with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital world.
