On August 31, 2025, Sisters of Code, in collaboration with the Deloitte Cambodia, organized a free workshop on Work Readiness for our Employment Skills Development program students. Recognising their aspirations to secure internships or jobs, the workshop was designed to equip them with practical skills to craft effective CVs and perform confidently in interviews.

The workshop was divided into two sessions. In the morning, we were pleased to welcome Ms. Phen Phallideth, Cybersecurity Specialist at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and Sisters of Code Trainer, who led a two-hour session on Career Essentials.

Sisters of Code students completed the first workshop session together with the guest Speaker.
Career Essentials Sharing by Ms. Phen Phallideth

During this session, Ms. Phallideth joined us online and shared practical, hands-on tips to help students get ready for job interviews, from researching the company to presenting their strengths with confidence. A highlight for many students was the introduction of the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result), a structured way to answer interview questions effectively. This approach not only helps students organize their thoughts but also ensures they can communicate their experiences clearly and professionally.

Students expressed great interest in this technique, noting how it gave them a simple yet powerful framework to showcase their skills and achievements during interviews.

After the fruitful morning session, the workshop continued with a hands-on CV review and writing session, followed by mock interviews. We were delighted to have Mr. Chan Sopheak, Human Resources Manager at Deloitte Cambodia, join us in person to guide this part of the workshop.

Mr. Chan Sopheak began by sharing practical tips for crafting an effective CV.
CV Writing Insights from Mr. Chan Sopheak

Mr. Sopheak provided practical tips on how to structure a CV to highlight key achievements, tailor it for different roles, and avoid common mistakes that could reduce its impact. He then divided the students into groups to share their CVs with peers and learn from each other’s feedback and suggestions. Discussing their CVs with classmates gave students valuable ideas for improvement, which were further reinforced by the expert guidance of our guest speaker.

For the mock interview session, students were divided into three groups. Each group, with backgrounds in Data Science, Information Technology, and Software Engineering, took on the role of interviewees applying for an IT Support position. Every group participated in a 20-minute simulated interview, after which they received detailed, constructive feedback from the professional.

Through this exercise, students were able to apply the techniques they had learned earlier while also gaining a realistic experience of the interview process, boosting their confidence and enhancing their professional skills.

By the end of the workshop, students received certificates of participation from Deloitte Cambodia in recognition of their time and active involvement in the Work Readiness Workshop.

Sisters of Code Students successfully completed the Work Readiness Workshop.

According to the post-workshop survey, 92% of participants reported feeling prepared to apply for internships or jobs after attending the session. Sisters of Code is delighted to see that the workshop provided students with valuable knowledge and practical skills to support their job and internship search.

We sincerely thank Deloitte Cambodia for their valuable support in designing the workshop materials and sessions, and for empowering our students to be better prepared for their future careers.

At Sisters of Code, we remain committed to empowering female students, helping them build confidence in their digital skills, and promoting greater representation of women in the technology field.
